The European Union decision-making process involves three main actors: the Commission, the Council of Ministers and the Parliament. The Amsterdam Treaty increased the European Parliament's responsibilities by making the co-decision procedure the most common process for adopting new legislation.

The co-decision procedure is complex and we have created a user-friendly flow chart depicting the process and pointing out where industry can participate in the decision-making. Understanding how the co-decision procedure works is essential for our customers and us in order to put our industry considerations into workable EU legislation.
